Joe Gibbs Racing has opted to defer the penalties assessed to its No. 11 Toyota team of driver Denny Hamlin after the Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway on Sept. 13.
Pit crew members Austin Maloney and Joel Bouagnon were suspended for two races, because one of the wheels during the Bristol race. Because of the deferral, Maloney and Bouagnon will perform their pit duties Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the Mobil 1 301, the first race in the second round, or round of 12, of the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. Hamlin is a four-time winner at NHMS.
Instead, the suspended crew member will be expected to serve their suspensions in the other two races of round two at Kansas Speedway and the Charlotte (N.C.) Speedway Roval.
